Doctors to recommend TV-free days to combat obesity

The general public should consider having television-free days, or cut viewing to two hours each day in order to slim down, based on new draft guidelines issued by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). The new guidelines are aimed at leisure 18 tackling the growing obesity crisis in the uk.

One in four adults is now clinically obese in the united kingdom, and also the National Obesity Forum predicts that if present trends continue, 1 / 2 of the population will be obese by 2040.

"Obesity rates have nearly doubled over the last 10 years and continue to be a huge concern for local authorities and the health service in England," Professor Mike Kelly, director of the Centre for Public Health at NICE, told the Daily Telegraph.

"Following a wholesome diet and being more physically active is essential for everybody, not just if you're already obese or overweight," he said.
