Great British Bake Off final: Mary Berry never loses her temper, says finalist Nancy Birtwhistle

Tonight sees The truly amazing British Bake Off reach it's dramatic conclusion.

The show's first year on BBC A person full of drama, surprises...and, obviously, fabulous cakes and pastries.

It's become one of the most talked 2 day diet strong version about programmes on television, fuelled partly through the controversial Bingate affair, but has were able to remain in keeping with its gentle, warm format.

The Mirror spoke to finalist Nancy Birtwhistle about her time in the tent, the key talents from the other finalists - and just how Mary manages to maintain her zen-like calm through the most tense of episodes.

What was your favourite challenge?
The best challenge I believe was Week 1, the Showstopper - my Jaffa Orange Cakes, and that was the only real time I got Star Baker. I had been at my most nervous, and that i am pleased with the outcome, and everything visited plan.

What was the worst challenge?
I had a few! I believe the Savarin - I had over-proved it and it sank - the flavour was good and Mary had a second slice which I got comfort from. The Entremets in the Semi Final - time management skills flew out the window, and there wasn't any time for decoration. Entremets are all about looking great and mine didn't, I had been really disappointed.

Have you ever see Mary lose her temper or get annoyed about anything?
I never saw Mary lose her temper once, she reassured me on Week 9 within the semi finals when I couldn't find my Entremet moulds. I had been getting myself into a right tizzy but she calmed me down and told me it might all be fine, and she or he was right and we found them. One cold day in the tent she provided to borrow me a jumper.

What is the best piece of advice you were given?
The director gave me the very best piece of advice on Week 7. There have been a few nerves around the steps entering the tent, and he said please enjoy yourselves because it will be finished soon.

Tell us a secret in regards to a finalist?
Luis is a great ukulele player and also at a party recently, he sang and played and also got all the Bakers to join in. He's a really good singer.

Did you put on any weight during filming?
I lost weight since i was running around. I baked every single day for 10 weeks, and then I needed to cook a meal at night after that, so I lost my appetite a little.

Did anything ever fail?
Quite a few things, my chocolates glaze on my small Entremets wasn't cool enough. It simply failed even though I had planned it meticulously before, however when you were within the tent it was different.

What is the strangest place you have been recognised since you've been on the show?
Dog walking in the center of nowhere, an automobile stopped and that i thought they wanted directions, and he explained that I was Nancy from the Bake Off. I did know that.

Why do you deserve to win?
I don't deserve to win anymore compared to other two, it will likely be tense and loaded with pressure, the nerves will be high as it is the final. It will likely be the final ever highly charged bake.

Who'd you love to thank?
It needs to be 2 day diet new my husband Tim who I must thank. We accustomed to obtain the challenges sent through by email, and Tim could be great to bounce ideas off, and extremely assist me to.

He has endless patience and of course he was great at inventing gadgets to help me. All the way through he was incredibly supportive.
